Kindness is Sweet w/ Olivia Fawcett

Anytime: The School Year! Anywhere: King High School in California! Anything: Serving others through cookies!

As I was browsing through Instagram the other day, I stumbled upon a new club that was created at KHS in California. I thought this was the perfect way to introduce my new collection of articles entitled, "VolunTEENism!" This is the joint combination of volunteerism and teens, in an effort to promote younger generations to be the change. The Cookie Club was started a little over two weeks ago, and has made quite a successful start! The first day of starting the club there was over twenty members, and it has now doubled that. Olivia Fawcett, the creator, was inspired by a church activity. She thought, "Who doesn't like cookies!?" and then proceeded to make a way to simply and greatly spread kindness. Her further inspiration were the students and staff within her high school, whom which she wanted to do something to give back to. She stated, "We deserve to have a campus that makes everyone feel welcome and loved. I want to show my appreciation for everyone on campus that is making a difference." The Cookie club and its members want to showcase that acts of kindness are simple and free. "Whether it’s a heart shaped note, Decorating a classroom or a plate of cookies. Simple actions of love from others can change people’s lives." They are currently planning a 'heart attack' for a new teacher to their campus! They will decorate her room, write kind messages and of course, bring her some cookies! To keep updated with this new and inspiring club, you can follow them: https://www.instagram.com/thecookieclub_khs/

Now, I challenge you to make service sweeter and make a plate of cookies for someone you know and love. Have the courage to be kind and remember #KindnessIsSweet!
