Start Heart Smart w/ Rylie Dewley

Anytime: All day, everyday! Anywhere: Michigan! Anything: Healthy Hearts Education! Rylie Dewley is a Michigan girl at heart, with a mission to talk all about hearts! Rylie was born with multiple different heart defects and conditions, but this did not stop her in the slightest. "Heart disease doesn't discriminate against age, weight, height, or race. Anyone can have a heart disease and so through my platform I help educate people on this idea and also help educate people how to have and keep a healthy heart." Rylie continues to serve those in her community because she is inspired by those in her close-knit community. They have been supportive of her and her platform throughout the years. Rylie's main messages she seeks to express, "We need to take care of our hearts. Heart disease is the number one cause of death in America and that needs to stop! We as Americans need to learn how to take better care of our hearts and we need to realize that heart disease can affect anyone.." It is her strong belief that everyone, even young children, should learn to how to maintain a healthy heart. Her favorite service project so far has been her opportunity to go to the Big House (University of Michigan Football Stadium) for a blood drive. Many of the stations set up dealt wit heart health so she was able to talk to many people about her platform. Plus, she was able to walk on the actual Michigan field! Rylie is an accomplished teenager and she is most proud of her Presidential Volunteer Award, which extended her platform to more service opportunities. From preparing meals for the homeless to volunteering with different animals shelters, Rylie has been able to go above and beyond! "To be able to promote volunteering along with my platform has been amazing." Rylie is inspired by Michelle Obama and her constant promotion of healthy living and healthy hearts. Nevertheless, Rylie has some of her own inspiring advice, "If you want it, go for it." You can see Rylie 'going for it' in her next big project, which will be a series of videos touching on different aspects of heart health.
